RECOGNIZER v1.0

Recognizer

I waited a long time to do a recognizer. It seems like the easiest thing in Tron to make out of Lego bricks, because of all the blocky shapes, but the MCP is in the details! The two main issues are the colored edges, and the empty space between each section.

There are a few possible methods to add the red highlights (or blue, for Flynn's Recognizer) along all of the edges. You can see a couple examples in the tank, but the recognizer has a lot more edges that need highlights! I'll add some pictures of some experiments soon.

What did work well here was using some 'studs sideways' elements to keep the whole thing smooth (except the bottoms of the feet! I need to fix that!). The sections are all held together by a system of recessed one-by plates (also studs sideways) leaving roughly a one-stud gap between each section. The joints are very secure and you can fly the whole thing around the room without any risk of pieces falling off. The legs cannot (yet) move to the center 'attack' position!

I shot this pic upside down on a table, then flipped the image. Couldn't quite get rid of all the shadows with the lights I had available, so had to photoshop them out. More pictures coming soon.
